I fairly know how to wait patiently for some good things to happen in my life.

I visited the office several times this last week and this week to make the follow-up regarding my resignation. The HR head, who started to show a little bit of compassion and concern when I submitted my resignation, told me that he forwarded the letter to the Food and Beverage Coordinator of the team. I wondered why did he forward the letter to the coordinator. The HR told me that its just part of the process. And I said, Huh?

I have this weird feeling that they are not taking my resignation seriously and properly. They did not take good care of me ever since naman so what more can I expect. I am a nobody here, no matter what I do and no matter how hard I try to prove myself as a professional and as part of the team. I hate them for that. I really do.

The last time I called the F & B coordinator, he told me that he will directly tell it to my employer. Fine. I am grateful for that. I asked the HR during my last visit if it is possible that I'm gonna be home by the 30th of this month. HR head answered tactfully, it's not. I and said, sh*t!

I am sick of it. I had too much of discrimination, deceit, politics, cruelty, hypocrisy at marami pang iba! I cannot take it anymore. But I have no other choice, I have to wait until they told me when to go for I am nothing here. I fairly know na naman how to wait patiently. I am getting tired of course. But what else can I do? Good things happen naman talaga for those who patiently wait.

I am crossing my fingers (plus my toes) that I won't have to wait like forever and my homecoming will be sooner. I am really excited about it! Can't wait to start a new life all over again.

I went out of bed earlier than usual because I am still waiting for the call from the HR. Up to now, there is none. I decided to just post several parts of my resignation letter.

I would like to render my resignation as the Personal Physical Therapist/ Masseur of XXXXXX effective this June 30, 2008.

...For some reasons I still do not understand, I have not been called to render my professional services for the past few months. I maybe wrong but as a person and as a professional, I view it as a lack of confidence on my knowledge and skills. Though I want to believe that my services are still needed here, my intuition and the recent developments tell me the other way around. I believe it is in our best interest for me to leave the job...

I would also like to take this chance to express my deepest gratitude to my employer His Highness XXXXXX...

I feel that I have fulfilled my duties to the best of my abilities while employed in this company for a little over 12 months. I appreciate your understanding of my decision to leave the Palace and I wish all the best for you and the organization in the future.

----

Of course I have other valid reasons but I decided not to include those because I believe it is better left unsaid. I am not saying that working in the palace or for all other royals is extremely difficult. It maybe difficult for me but not for some others. Though I am not having problems with my employer, the cultural differences and the people around me really tested my personality, morals and patience. God knows I tried to look at the other side of my life here. I tried so hard to enjoy the moments I spent - the moments of solitude and moments with new-found friends. But at the end of the day, the negatives outweigh the positives. I do not want to stay here for the sake of money alone. I know I can find a new job with a better compensation and better co-workers. I am willing to wait because I know someday, somehow I will find another one...

I submitted my resignation letter this afternoon! Nagulat din ang taga-HR. Tomorrow, I am meeting the deputy manager. I might be home sooner.

Basta masaya ako dahil I will be out of this place soon! Aiwa!

Noong mga nakalipas na araw, I was browsing the net to get some tips on how to make the best resignation letter.

· purgedsoul Says:
keep it short and simple

Dear [Name]:

I Quit.

Sincerely,
[Employee’s Name]

· Pablo - **The Monkey's Cheese** Says:
Have a bit of fun with your resignation letter. Thats the best way.
This is how i quit my last detestable job.

Dear *company name*,

We have been together for a little over a year now, we’ve had our ups and downs, our laughs and our good times… That’s why it is so difficult for me to say this.. but I can’t hold onto it any longer, because you’re a great company and you deserve the truth.

*Company name*, I love you, but i’m no longer IN love with you. We have the perfect love at the wrong time…I’m so sorry. I have a lot of growing up to do. I can’t give you the commitment you deserve and you can’t give me the passion and liberty that I am drawn to.

Don’t be upset, you’ve done nothing wrong because It’s not you, it’s me. I need to make some changes and get on with my life. Things here have been hard and I need to move on, and work in new places, try out different things.

You have been an important part of my life, Everything happens for a reason and I will never forget you, and I hope you won’t forget me also. We can still be friends.

I’m leaving the state, to give me and yourself some time to deal with this, I will call you when Im ready. We’ve come a long way but we are two different people and I can’t keep on lying to myself. You were a great company and Im sure you will find someone new just around the corner who will make you as happy as you made me.

I am leaving in a week. On Wednesday the 25th. I will miss you.
- Pablo”

-------

I did not use either of these. I made my own and I am submitting it later today. I think iot is about time for them to hear my own thoughts. I want them to be surprised but life has it's own surprises. Basta, I have my reasons. It is best for me to just quit. I already signed it and it's final. I am leaving this job! I will soon post excerpts of my own resignation letter. Help me pray that things will go well.

Today I am celebrating my 1 year anniversary away from home. Am I happy or sad? Honestly, I am not completely happy but I am not totally sad. Life away from home is never easy and life inside the palace is even worst. But I am glad I am still here - fighting against the evil forces around me and trying to be the best that I can be!

Maligayang isang taon ng pagiging OFW. Akalain mo isang taon na pala akong bayani!

It’s almost one in the morning when I got the chance to go online. I did all the usual things I do whenever I go online. I read some news back home via inquirer.net, checked my yahoomail, friendster account and my blog. I also managed to visit the blogs of kiko, lala, bads, au and rain.

Rain’s latest post is all about the hardships of a young professional who happens to have so many dreams. She is complaining for she needs a break. Well, everybody does except of course the ones who are having theirs at this every moment. Then, my rebellious but beloved cousin bads posted this message: “nates, is that you?” And I just felt that my blood rushed to my head.

Fine fine fine. Guilty ako. I do not want to hypocrite for there are enough here around me. I admit that I am a reklamador! I complain a lot. In fact I have a never-ending list of complaints - from the simplest taste of my coffee, to the disgusting scent of the man beside me, to the corruption back home, to the attitudes the people I am working with, all the adversities I have here etc etc. It is a never-ending list of “valid” complaints. Valid, I say. Believe me for once, please.

So, why do I complain? My friend told me once that I complain a lot because I never become satisfied with what I have. Well, humans never get contented and I glad to know than I am more of a human. But I think the reason for my complaints is more of the unhappy feeling with all the things that are happening around me. It is plain and simple, I complain because there is something wrong. And that “something” annoys me so bad. Mababaw lang ang kaligayahan ko (believe me, for one for time). Life already taught me on how to appreciate even the simplest things that come my way. I dream of a perfect world so I try my best not to deny the wrongdoings that I see. I complain because I believe that it is the best I can do so that the proper authorities can acknowledge that something is not right. I won’t be complaining if everything is in its proper place and everything is right. I still complain about my work and I already raised my grievances. The problem is the ones who should be helping me solve the problems do not seem to care. All the simple complaints and the major ones I have since day one are completely unresolved. They just gave me false hopes and some unacceptable excuses. My case here is extremely hopeless. Pray for me that I won’t do the latter here.

I am sick of this life. Really. Oh sh*t, there comes another complaint.

Last Saturday I received a surprise call from Noel. By the way, Noel is one of my trusted big brothers here.

Me: Hindi. Bakit?
Arabic daw sumasagot kapag dina-dial nila.
Me: Ah Ganun ba.
Me: Okay. Salamat.
Noel: Cya, sige pards.
Me: Sige Pards. Thank you ulit.

After the conversation, I remembered one incident that happened late last year. I was still staying on the housekeeper’s accommodation when I received a call from Willie (my employer’s personal waiter) at 3:30 am. He asked me to go to the gate immediately. My employer wanted some massage after an evening meeting. My reflexes were so hyperactive that I managed to be at the gate in less than two minutes. After waiting for nearly 10 minutes, the car arrived and we hurriedly drove towards the other side of the palace. When we finally arrived, I waited for some thirty minutes and then finally advised to go back to my room. Some waiters told me that before we (the butler and I) arrived, my employer left already to spend the night with his family. Saman, a Sri Lankan waiter who was on duty that time told me that my employer was furious! He was so mad because the people who should inform me did not do their jobs. I told him, nobody informed so it was not my fault. Saman assured me that my employer was not angry with me. Then the driver came to bring me on the other side of the palace.

God knows and they know that it was not my fault at all. Like what I usually do here for more than three hundred days, I am just waiting for any orders. I sleep at three in the morning waiting for any calls and stay awake whenever all my co-employees are having their siestas in the afternoon. I do not really have worry-free days here except during the days that my employer is out of the country and I am not included in the entourage.

I once read that a thing that happened once can never happen twice. But if that thing happened for the second time, it will surely happen for the third time.

I do not understand why nobody believes or understands me when I say that my present job will never be a dream job for anybody. Yes, I am compensated good enough, I work in the palace and I travel with all expenses paid (except for shopping and some other extra curricular activities). However, most of the people look only on what the eyes can be seen. They are judging me and my work based on the pictures I posted and based on the sole reality that “I am working abroad”.

Yes, I know that life back home is bad or even worse. Let us also admit the fact that life away from home is even tougher. I have my reasons why I want to give up this job. I may not be able to narrate it now but in time, I know you will understand me. I suffered enough here -- physically, emotionally, and mentally. My inner self needs to be healed. My life inside the palace is not a piece of cake because I am a servant. I am not the king and not even close to a prince.

I am just an ordinary man with some extraordinary dreams. I just want a job that will make me a better man. My growth is at stake here -- personally and professionally. Do me a favor - believe me for once and pray for me. I do not know how long I can last but I know, with God by my side and with all your prayers, I will survive.

Sometimes, it feels good to watch the details and complexities of life. But as we all know, too much of everything is bad. I've seen a lot of things since I came here. I've been to different places and experienced almost everything - heaven and hell; good, bad and the one in between. I do not know how long I can last.

I am turning to be a night owl. The more I see, the more I do not speak. And the more I do not speak, the more I hear. Believe me, you will not like to be me - an owl.
